Relate Rather than Rage

A quick thought: In this political climate, I have seen more chaos and rage between friends, family, and acquaintances played out on television, social media, radio, and any communication outlet you can think of. It is easy to say “I’m RIGHT, You’re WRONG.” But remember friends, it takes so much energy and time to rage. You do not need to fight every battle with every person on the Earth.

Instead, take a step back, breathe, listen and hear them out. You do not need to agree with them. Respect them. Find common ground. Relate. Maybe not the conflicted issue but something else. Find things that unite rather than divide us.

Believe In Your Well-Being

Fluff is NOT needed except for desserts and pillows.

I have learned it is important to be selfish especially if it has to do with your well-being. I know I am being redundant but it is vital to take care of your mind, body, and spirit.

When you have your standards, keep them. Don’t let it waiver.

Don’t Dash

If you dash through life, you will miss out.

So Pause.

Appreciate how far you have come.

See the colors of nature.

Look up to heaven and smile.

God is on your side.

He does not rush but has purpose in His actions.

Don’t let life pass you by.

Enjoy the present while you still can.

Real Talk to Give You Life

I remember for the longest time being the friend who meddled and invested my time, energy, and resources to the people around me. I felt like it was my job to save everyone even at the expense of my own happiness. I tell you it is draining.

There is nothing wrong with caring about people, BUT it is important to take care of your needs too. Some people you invest in may only bring you further down. Your constant, toxic investment in someone will divest your life and well-being. I have had to separate myself from toxic people. Their drama and issues made me feel worse. There was no give and take; it was me giving while they took. I would be drained and unhappy.

Moral of the Story: Care about yourself. Know that your mind, heart, and being matters too. Let no person still your joy. Eliminate the people who steal your joy and do not support you in your time of need. Do not be afraid to make yourself a priority.

Confessions of A Jiggling, Single Christian Lady

So even though I am single (and have been for 26 years), I have tried to be a strong, independent, “I don’t need a man,” career girl who loves Jesus, her family, and her friends. I come up with many reasons why I am single and should be single. I wave my feminist flag. I wave the “Jesus is my boyfriend” flag. I wave my “I am woman. Here me roar” flag. Some days I feel great as a single person. But there are some days where I feel annoyed being single.

There are some days where the flags don’t do anything. There are days where the reasons why I am single don’t help. Even encouragement and empowerment from other women do not help. I find myself jiggling and being anxious. Will I find someone? I am just going to be alone like this? Why is there not at least a prospect? Is there something wrong with me?  Am I coming on too intense? Where did I go wrong?  My jiggling starts turning into an anxious earthquake of emotions.

I know what you are going to say.

  • Bianca, God is preparing you in this season for your husband.
  • Bianca, a relationship is just so much; believe me, you are better off single
  • Bianca, be content
  • Bianca, it’s ok to wait..
  • You are a great person, Bianca and God has someone especially made for you.
  • etc. etc. etc. blah blah

I have heard all of these  and then some. But I am being truthful. It is not easy to be single and not fool around. It is not easy when 99.9% of your friends are in relationships or married. It is not easy to see your social media filled with babies, boyfriends, engagement ring selfies, cute couples hashtags, etc. It is not easy where your once single lady alliance decreases because your single friends are finding love while you are STILL waiting.   It is not easy to be set apart with the world telling you to let your freak flag fly and experiment. It is not easy…

There are moments when Mama B has “jiggle moments.” My mind moves quick in thoughts of “Is my singlehood permanent?” “What is next besides graduation and work?” I believe it is a normal feeling to have but it should not be a feeling that overtakes and overwhelms.

So to my single friends (wherever you are), it’s ok to hurt and jiggle but don’t let your jiggling be an anxious natural disaster. Keep picking yourself up. We are gonna be just fine.

The Marathon of Love

via Daily Prompt: Marathon

If you did not know, today is Martin Luther King Day. In our world, love is not a quick jog but a marathon. Till God decides to take His children home, it is a marathon to love your brother or sister who is different from you. We live in the same world and we need to love. So here are some of encouragement for this marathon of love from Dr. King and the King of Kings:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.-Mark 12:31

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.-1 Peter 3:8
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.-1 Corinthians 10:24

I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.-Philippians 2:3
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.-Hebrew 13:1-2

The time is always right to do what is right.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.-Galatians 6:2

Love one another, friends.

Believe with Bianca: Hopeful Words

via Daily Prompt: Hopeful

So many people have been vocal about how 2016 was horrible. But, there is always hope in Jesus Christ for every need at any place in your life.

I will combat the negativity of 2016 with some Scripture on hopefulness for 2017.

This is what the Lord says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.-Isaiah 43:16, 18-19

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.-Jeremiah 29:11

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.-Hebrews 11:1

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.-Matthew 11:28
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.-Psalm 31:24

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.-Romans 5:3-4

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.-Isaiah 40:30-31

Know this hope. Speak this hope in your life. Our world and society can be a dark place but the light of Christ can change and transform that darkness into LIGHT.

5 Blissful Tips for 2017

Well 2016 is almost over. It’s really been something. My year has been a rollercoaster of great times and moments to hard lessons to learn. But we have lived to see another year. 2017 can be greater than the last. So for my last post of 2016, I will give you 5 Blissful Tips to Remember going Forward into 2017.

  1. The setbacks of 2016 are lessons if you don’t allow them to keep you down in 2017. If you did not know, life is not a perfect cloud of happiness. You have to get up and brush yourself off. Don’t let the failures overtake you and do not let people use it against you. Your story is YOUR STORY. Take ownership of your life. Keep moving forward.
  2. Be thankful for what you have but keep a hunger for what you want to have. Your goals and dreams are valid. No matter where you are, no matter how old you are, no matter how much time you lost, as long as there is breath in your body, you can achieve anything. Hustle hard!!
  3. Eliminate, Eliminate, Eliminate. Know that you have one life to live. You have purpose in life. And you have a divine right to remove, unfriend, and separate yourself from toxic people and things who make it their business to infringe negativity on your life. Take your life back!!!
  4. Indulge Yourself. Take care of yourself mind, body, and spirit. Only you can determine what you need. Treat yourself every once in a while.
  5. Keep God first. I will always keep going back to that but it’s true. God is perfect and all-knowing. He knows your heart and your passions. Trust His truth, Trust His Word.

May you all have a Happy New Year. Keep moving forward, keep God first, love the skin you are in, and strive for excellence. Love you all. Thank you being on this journey with me these past four months!! See you in 2017!!!

5 Blissful Tips on Being Single During the Holidays

The holiday season is STILL in full swing. As a single person, depending on what’s going on in life, it can be tough being “just you with no plus one.” Friends get engaged, family ask  why you are still single, holiday specials and movies that make you wish you had someone, holiday parties without a plus one, etc.

But DO NOT FRET!! Single People, I have tips for your worries about this season.

  1. Wear your singlehood with pride when family and friends question you. Talk about the other blessings you have now because something eventful probably happened to you. Talk about school, a hobby, work, just something else besides your relationship status. A relationship is not the sum total of your life. Your life is interesting. If you dig deep and realize that you are more than your relationship status, then wearing your single banner with pride will not make you feel bad when your friends and family intentionally or unintentionally question “Why/How are you still single?” Smile, tell them you still single, and tell them what is going on in your fabulous single life.
  2. Give back to people who do not have the things you have. The holidays can be hard for people who are alone (not just single but they do not have anyone). Give back to others. Show a little extra kindness Giving back does something to you and to another. A simple thing is giving out handwritten Christmas cards. It may be small but it could mean a lot to someone (believe me…I have seen it before).
  3. Give yourself a gift. Yes I said it!! Treat yourself to a nice present this holiday season. I started this tradition two years ago. I wanted to buy a ring for myself rather than wait for my husband to give me.  It started to turn into a beautiful symbol of my journey as a single lady. Plus, it is good to spoil yourself every now and then.
  4. Rest. Easier said than done but do rest. You do not have to sleep but do something as a form of relaxation. Read a book for fun, sleep, Netflix (and be happy), etc.
  5. Enjoy the blessings around you. Like I said in #1, single life is still a blessed life. Enjoy your family and friends. Enjoy the provision God has blessed you with. Do not take it for granted.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
